Call for submission: Fraser Taylor Prize, 2024

The Canadian Association of African Studies (CAAS) invites graduate students to submit papers for consideration for the Fraser Taylor Prize, to be awarded at the 2024 CAAS annual conference. The prize, named after long-time Carleton geographer Fraser Taylor, will recognize the best graduate student paper presented at the 2023 CAAS Conference.

Papers should be submitted by March 15, 2024, and should follow the guidelines outlined by the Canadian Journal of African Studies. The papers should be based on the graduate student's own research and should be a final draft as if submitted for publication.

Papers must be unpublished and must have been presented at the annual CAAS conference. Co-authored papers are accepted, but all co-authors must be graduate students.

The winner of the Fraser Taylor Prize will receive a cash award of $500 and will be recognized for their outstanding research contributions.  The winner will also be invited to submit their manuscript to the Canadian Journal of African Studies.

Please send your essay as an attachment to execdir@caas-acea.org by March 15, 2024.

We encourage graduate students in all fields of social studies to apply. Submit your paper and be recognized for your hard work!

 Thank you.
